This recipe for a fresh and healthy Skinny Grapefruit Margarita combines fresh-squeezed juice and top shelf tequila for the ultimate no-guilt co*cktail.
My sister-in-law makes the most delicious margaritas. They are always made with fresh juice and no sugar added, which means less guilt later. I asked her to share her recipe with me and then I added my own twist to it. I can’t wait for you to try it out!
Skinny Grapefruit Margarita
I do love a good co*cktail. However, margaritas are usually not my first choice. They are often loaded with sugar and made with an artificial mix. But not this version! Fresh squeezed juice, top shelf tequila and zero sugar, this drink is clean and so refreshing.
And the combination of tequila and grapefruit is a match made in heaven if you ask me. The grapefruit has a subtle sweetness that is complemented by the tequila. Actually, grapefruit is one of my favorite fruits to use for co*cktails.

Healthy Paloma Recipe
Now, technically this skinny grapefruit margarita could be called a Paloma. A Paloma is traditionally a co*cktail made with tequila and grapefruit soda. However, this version uses fresh-squeeze grapefruit juice and tastes a bit more like a margarita. So, no matter what you call it, this drink is soooo good!
How To Make A Skinny Margarita
Ok, I’m sure you’ve heard someone order a “skinny” margarita and wondered what exactly that means. A skinny co*cktail is a healthier, and usually less sugary version of the original. And in this case, there is no sugar added. The grapefruit juice provides the perfect amount of sweetness so you don’t need much else!
This skinny grapefruit margarita recipe makes 2 co*cktails and mixes up in a matter of minutes.
Juice one grapefruit and pour into a co*cktail shaker. Add in the juice of one lime, then 3 ounces of tequila. Now, don’t skimp here. Use a good quality tequila. Because we are using simple ingredients, you will be able to taste the quality of your booze.
Once you have those 3 ingredients added to your shaker, throw in some ice and shake it up!
Pour into 2 cups over ice. Garnish with fresh rosemary, mint or whatever you have from the garden. You can top the glasses with a bit of grapefruit soda water (like La Croix) but it’s not necessary.
And if you’re feeling extra fancy, salt the rims with some pink himalayan sea salt. Perfection!
